Founded by Jim and Sandy Ciraulo, Envoy Data Corporation began as a Value-Added Distributor serving the rapidly evolving embedded memory market. The company specialized in emerging memory form factors, including PCMCIA, and established its first location in Gilbert, Arizona.
Envoy Data expanded beyond embedded memory into key industry verticals including Medical, Agriculture, and Aerospace. The company added sales and business development resources to support its growing customer base and relocated to a larger facility in Tempe, Arizona.
Envoy Data established a dedicated Security Division, initially focused on authentication solutions for the U.S. Federal Government market. This marked the beginning of the company's evolution from a memory-focused distributor into a broader technology and security solutions provider.
Envoy Data significantly expanded its security practice across multiple industries, technologies, and customer segments. During this period, the company supported more than 450 channel partners, providing technology expertise, distribution, and value-added services. At the same time, the company's memory business began a renewed period of growth.
Through the period leading into and including the COVID-19 pandemic, Envoy Data maintained stable revenue performance while continuing to refine its strategic focus. The company placed greater emphasis on higher-margin technologies and solutions. EDC Memory achieved a full recovery and successfully added several major OEM partners.
Envoy Data relocated from Gilbert to Scottsdale, Arizona, beginning a strategic transition toward a more solutions-focused business model. Physical product management and fulfillment were transitioned to a trusted third-party partner, allowing Envoy Data to concentrate greater resources on technology, partnerships, customer engagement, and business development.
The Envoy Alliance Program and Authorized Channel Program were developed to support a multi-year growth strategy. Key initiatives included rebranding, new leadership, a new corporate location, increased focus on the SMB market, and the strategic separation of the Security and Memory businesses.
Building on more than three decades of experience, Envoy Data began establishing a dedicated Enterprise Division focused on large-scale organizations and complex technology environments. The initiative expanded Envoy Data's capabilities in identity, authentication, security, memory, and emerging technologies, while creating new opportunities for manufacturers, channel partners, and enterprise customers.
Today, Envoy Data is building on its legacy as a technology distributor and evolving into a solutions-driven technology and security partner. With expertise spanning Identity & Access, Converged Smart Cards, FIDO & MFA, Mobile Credentials, RFID, embedded technology, memory, and AI-enabled solutions, Envoy Data connects manufacturers and innovative technologies with the organizations that need them most.
From memory to identity. From distribution to solutions. More than 30 years of technology innovation — and the next chapter is just beginning.
